Caroline's Campaign Valentines Make-Over for Cancer Sufferers

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, cancer campaigner, Caroline Monk knows all too well how devastating the effects of losing your hair, eye brows and eye lashes can feel for women. 

Caroline Comments ‘It was a dreadful experience, the chemotherapy left me looking like a bald alien, and feeling very unfeminine and depressed." So in 2007 Caroline, recently awarded, London Personality of the year, set about helping other cancer sufferers by organising free pampering days, worth over £1,000. Since launching the campaign, Caroline’s helped dozens of women in Manchester, London, Essex, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds and is now busy organising her latest event to be held on 6^th February 2012 in London, to provide a Valentine’s Day themed make-over experience to some more very deserving women.

This year the make-over event is being held at Denise Lebar, a specialist London hair loss boutique, and together with Caroline’s team of volunteers will give dramatic new looks to more ladies, whose lives and confidence had been shattered by cancer.

The side-effects of life-saving cancer treatments such as chemotherapy – can have a devastating effect on the physical appearance. As well as nausea and fatigue, the side-effects of chemotherapy include hair loss, skin and nail problems, weight loss and weight gain.  These symptoms serve as a constant reminder of the disease and can make coping with the illness very difficult, especially for women. This special charity event will see the women pampered with manicures, make-up sessions and even tattooed eyebrows by top make-up artists as well as hair make-overs from Denise Lebar’s expert team.

Celebrity guests and supporters of Caroline’s campaign will also join in the celebrations to really help make the day extra special for the women taking part.

Bigger Than.....

Looking like a famous pop star can lead to a surprisingly lucrative career. There are a number of 'lookalike' agencies where you can book your favourite copy cat starlet to party at events, open supermarkets, or take part in photo-shoots! Some lookalikes even work as body doubles in films and music videos or act as decoys when the real celebs need to avoid screaming fans or the paps.

Sky Living's new TV show 'Bigger than,' takes ordinary women in the hope of transforming them into their favourite celebrity. So far in the series we have seen women competing to win contracts to work as lookalike for Beyonce, Britney and Lady Ga Ga.

Gorgeous Star PR was delighted to work with the producers of the series to help recommend some of our expert spa and beauty clients to help the contestants transform into their favourite superstars!

The amazing team at FOUR London transformed the hair of the Britney lookalikes, and with special expertise in Afro-Caribbean hair, the team at Denise Lebar worked their magic on the wannabee Beyonces.

Director of Spa Barbies, Samantha Cunningham, and international make-up artist Natasha Lawes were also on hand to transform the contestants into mega-stars with their beauty and make-up talents.

Happy First Birthday FOUR London

FOUR London - Mayfair's newest Colour Specialist Salon recently celebrated their first birthday in style. They hosted a party at their beautiful premises which was attended by their loyal clients, which include Nigella Lawson, Yasmin Le Bon, Sally Morgan and Lizzie Cundy, who all came along to show their support and to enjoy a champagne and canapes reception.  

Gorgeous Star PR is delighted to work with FOUR London and their resident therapist and highly trained skincare expert, Marie Reynolds from beauty company, Eve Taylor. Hayley went along to join in the celebrations.

Goody bags were given to guests at the party containing gifts from Wella, Yardley, Eve Taylor, Tangle Teezer, Dr. Duve Skincare, HD Brows, Collagen Gold and WonderfulHair Extensions. Special balloons inside the salon also had raffle ticket prizes hidden inside.

Closer journalist Katie Banks attended the launch of the new Imagine Spa at The Hilton Hotel Heathrow Terminal 5, on November 11th and mingled with our celebrity guests including, Nicola McClean, Michelle Heaton, Lauren Pope, Lauren Goodger and Vanessa Feltz!

All of our special guests enjoyed a champagne reception, mini spa
treatments, gorgeous food and stayed overnight at the 5 star hotel.
The next day everyone made the most of the luxurious Imagine Spa  facilities.

Lauren Goodger was so impressed with the spa and hotel she stayed there again last weekend before flying off to LA. She also brought TOWIE star, Lydia Rose Bright, with her as well!

Celebrities including Michelle Heaton, Lauren Goodger, Vanessa Veltz and Susie Amy attended this exclusive launch party which also included an overnight stay at the brand new 5 star Hilton Hotel and exclusive use of the gorgeous Imagine Spa the following day.

Famous chef Cyrus Todiwala served up an amazing selection of Indian food and wowed guests with his cooking demonstrations.

Leading Organic skincare line, Babor used at the spa provided the goody bags.
